“Filmology” is a website which promoting film and cinema. This website was set for 10 years and one website can exist that long means that it has its advantages. Red nearly brownish was the main colour for design and another principal color is white. Even background image is a photograph but not just graphic and color, it doesn’t look too complex. Every steps and options on the website were explained clearly and understandably therefore most of customers would willing to come back and visit again. Visitors are not allowed to try some of the functions. Audiences have to join members so they can get more bonuses. Audiences might not get a great quantity of information through this website, they just connect with films and they could find more.

Instead of providing details of the movies, “Filmology” promotes films by holding various activities and being an intermediary. Perhaps they can create a gallery for all films they have had since the website was set and put some information then audiences can know more about this website. Most of audiences hope the operation as simple as possible so a few of buttons and easy operation could be the strengths.

“STRUCK” is a digital-forward creative agency. Audiences will see the moving advertisements, including STRUCK logo and the cases they completed. Therefore, people could get the first impression of this agency quickly. In addition, they place all the work as one page in the portfolio which could be convenient for customers to watch all of them at the same time. But they perhaps should provide more information for each work not just the picture. The interface for STRUCK is not complex, to be more specific, the color contrast is simple and the composing is also plain. Simple style for this website is necessary because the works displayed here are multicolored and plain background won’t bewilder viewers. The main navigation bar won’t leave the screen even when the viewers sliding down the page and that make it easy to see. There are just four main buttons in the navigation bar so people will not be confused by too many options. This website is easy to catch on and memorable. Actually “struck.com” might more like a work gallery, they offer word information in their blog.

Although it did not give too many word information but customers still can at least understand whether they want to contact with the agency or just quit. The speed of downloading could be the weakness and it should be faster or customers need more patience.

“Maribyrnong Weekly” is an online newspaper website for Victoria, Australia. The audience can see the main navigation bar in the middle of the page at the first sight. There are several categories of news and the drop mean will show more detail options while viewer’s mouse moving over the category. Audiences can do some search as well. Viewers can leave their commons for the news below each article. All news can be magnified or minified the size of letters, they also can be printed, sent, shared, saved, etc. And all these useful buttons were set just in the right top of each article which could be found and used easily. The advertisement might too lager for the composing, moreover, the ads always got colorful pictures which will attract people’s attention. Perhaps they can put some photo connect with the news rather than advertisements. As a result of this online news was posted weekly, it might not provide a huge amount of news and it did not refresh immediately which could limit the number of audiences. The map of this web could be a strength, people will be able to read the most popular or newest news quickly.

MMD2306 - Project03 WebReview01

For project 3, we have to choose 5 website and do some reviews.

The first topic is "Online Store" so I chose "Official Apple Store" as my subject.

The website I chose for “online store” topic is the “Official Apple Store”. The interface design of the Official Apple Store is very concise and simple. This website looks concise and professional as a result of using cold colors, include white, black and dark blue. Cold colors also bring about modern and high-tech feeling. There is a search engine on the left-hand side which is convenient for audiences to find whatever they need. If audiences haven’t definite target any productions, they can look after each category from the navigation below the search window. In the middle of the page, namely the first area audience will notice, was those productions which are holding the promotion. In addition, other topics in center area also display the photography of productions in order to catch viewers’ eyes. Audiences can look at production details, functions, price and different angle photo shoot, or comments from other customs. It could keep more space between each section to make this website looks more clear. It could increase something to interest people, for instance, iPad 3D view so audiences can see it from 360 degrees. Although the Official Apple Store is a simple website, it actually works well so far.
